Laser hair removal is a safe, gentle and FDA approved way to remove hair permanently. There is no down time and virtually every part of the body can be treated. The laser produces a beam of light which is selectively absorbed by the hair follicles and minimizes damage to the surrounding tissue. The heat damages or destroys the potential for re-growth.

Hair follicles grow in phases. Laser hair removal targets those hairs in the active phase of growth. For optimal results, treatments must be repeated 4-6 times depending on the individual and the body area being treated. We are able to treat all skin color light to dark. We currently use one of the safest and most effective lasers for hair removal.

How to prepare for your laser treatment?
1. You should be your natural skin color in the area of treatment. No tans or burns.

2. You should not have waxed, tweezed or used hair removal creams for at least 4 weeks prior to your treamtent

3. You should shave the area the morning or night before your treatment very well!

4. If you are using minocycline, doxycycline or any similar antibiotic you should postpone your treatment by two weeks after stopping the antibiotics. If you are using Retin A or any similar medications please stop two weeks before your treatments.

5. Blonde or White hairs will not respond to the laser.

6. Fees apply for less than 24 hours notice of cancellation.

7. For the bikini area and under arm we have anesthetic cream available to minimize any discomfort you may experience. If you would like this cream you will need to email us at info@couturelaserandskin.com with your name, date of birth only AFTER you make your appointment.

Is laser therapy safe?
Yes, if done under the guidance of a trained physician with the proper equipment. The laser beam targets only the hair follicle, essentially sparing the remainder of the skin. This selective technology allows for the high level of safety in this procedure.

Are there any side effects?
You are able to continue with your normal day immediately after treatment. Your skin may appear slightly red after the treatment but is back to normal within a few minutes to hours.

Is laser hair removal permanent?
Yes. Once a hair follicle is disabled that particular hair will never grow again.

Why is laser hair removal better?
Lasers are able to remove hundreds of hairs in less than a second and the hairs that are effected are permanently gone. Electrolyisis treats one hair at a time, and all other techniques such as waxing, shaving or dipilotory creams are only temporary. Laser hair removal is fast, safe and the most permanent solution for unwanted hair today.

How does the laser work?
The laser specifically targets the pigment in hair follicles. The heat generated from this process safely and permanently disables the hair follicles in the active phase of growth.

How much time does the procedure take?
The time it takes depends on the amount of area being treated. Facial areas such as lip or chin can take as little as 5-10 minutes while full legs or back can take up to one hour or more.

Is laser therapy painful?
At worst, some patients describe a feeling of a rubber band snapping against their skin with laser therapy. At Couture Laser and Skin we have a few ways of minimizing any discomfort to ensure a relaxing experience. Our lasers have a specialized cooling device built in, which makes the procedure much more comfortable. We also offer to prescribe topical anesthetic so not much discomfort is felt at all.

Why does it take multiple treatments for optimal results for laser hair removal?
Hair has several phases in its life cycle. The laser beam only disables those hairs that are in the active phase of growth. Only a certain percentage of your hair is in the active phase at any given point in time. Therefore, treatments must be repeated at varying time intervals for optimal results.

How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments vary with the body area and hair type being treated. In general about 4-6 treatments will give excellent results.

Can all skin and hair colors be treated with laser therapy?
All skin colors white to black can be treated. Only pigmented hair can be treated. Blonde and white hairs cannot be effectively treated with laser therapy.
